Canberra – 21 July 2010: Raytheon Australia’s contract for the provision of comprehensive calibration services for ADF test and measurement equipment has completed the final phase-in activities with the formal approval to commence full scale calibration production.
This approval was provided by the Commonwealth’s Aerospace Equipment System Support Office (AESSO) and marks the closure of all existing Commonwealth ADFCAL laboratories.
Under the performance based contract to be known as Raytheon Australia Calibration Solutions (CalS), the program features a door-to door service including packing, shipping, calibration and return to customer. CalS operates out of three laboratories located at Rocklea Queensland, Prestons New South Wales and Edinburgh South Australia.
Raytheon Australia brings to this venture strong experience along with local partners, VMS International Pty Ltd (TRVMS) and Star Track Express. VMS International Pty Ltd (TRVMS), a long time partner and subcontractor to Raytheon Australia, is providing comprehensive calibration services across the three sites, while Transportation and packing of test equipment for calibration is being undertaken by Star Track Express.
Raytheon Australia is also drawing on the extensive experience of Raytheon Technical Services Company (RTSC) of the United States whose calibration business has provided the Raytheon proprietary software engine, ARAMIS, to drive all aspects of the calibration service. This web based system is being used to schedule call-outs for calibration and, alerting customers ahead of time that their assets are due for calibration. Via a link to ARAMIS, customers are able to track the progress of equipment through the calibration cycle.
The Managing Director of Raytheon Australia, Michael Ward said “In this new program, CalS is providing a credible and capable Defence calibration service with the necessary growth path to meet future Defence requirements. It is a welcome addition to the Raytheon Australia portfolio and we look forward to forging a strong reputation as a trusted, long term partner in this specialised activity.”
