SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - 29 January 2008: Raytheon Australia was recognised by the American Chamber of Commerce today for its major sponsorship of an Australian Defence Trade Mission to the United States.
The short ceremony at the Chief of Navy’s Sea Power Conference 2008 highlighted Raytheon Australia’s sponsorship which will enable a delegation of Australian small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs)to connect with senior US Department of Defense personnel and top decision-makers from the US Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine, as well as attend ‘Sea-Air-Space Exposition 2008’.
The support is another milestone in Raytheon Australia’s development and support of Australian SMEs to help grow the Australian Defence industry with opportunities domestically and overseas.
The Chamber’s West Australian President Penelope Williamson made the presentation, commenting, “We are thrilled to have a company like Raytheon Australia become a major sponsor for this trade mission. It’s an excellent opportunity for Australian businesses.”
Ron Fisher, Managing Director of Raytheon Australia welcomed the opportunity to support the American Chamber of Commerceand Australian Defence SMEs.
“Our sponsorship reflects our strong commitment to support and include Australian SMEs on major Defence programs. A strong SME base is vital to the delivery of Defence programs and the broader Australian economy,” he said.
The trade mission will be in Washington DC from 18-20 March 2008.
